Why You Should Hire a Real Estate Agent
With the lack of inventory, a lot of people are considering building. Negotiating can be difficult so here are some tips to help you out.
- Create some leverage by getting bids from different builders. This will increase your negotiating power
- Do your research and know all the details concerning your project.
- Keep your cool, some builders may be abrupt, but remember it’s not personal it’s business.
- Set Limits – most homebuilders are very firm on their price but there are additional expenses. Be sure your builder knows what your bottom line is.
- Change the focus. Instead of negotiating the price, add upgrades such as landscaping, lighting, or flooring for the same price.
- Have patience – contractors work with subcontractors and their schedules, materials running short, and the weather all cause delays which cannot be controlled by the builder.
- Make sure you have someone look over your contract. That is where we come in. We also keep track of when your inspections should be, when you should be making your selections, and in many other ways to make this process as seamless as possible.
